For Water
Lovers:
Snorkeling: some of the best, either at
the pristine beaches of Mountain Trunk Bay,
Nail Bay or Long Bay all situated near
Island Spice Villa or at dozens of famous
beaches around Virgin Gorda including The
Baths.
SCUBA:
Diving at some of the famous BVI sites
such as the wrecks of the RMS Rhone or
Chikuzen, The Invisibles, The Aquarium, plus
sites at the Dog Islands, Ginger Island,
Cooper Island, and more!

Fishing:
either from shore, bone fishing or
deep-water fishing. The BVI is known for its
world-class sports fishing, home to the
famous `North Drop` - more Marlin hits per
day than anywhere else in the World!
Sailing: Kite boarding, parasailing,
windsurfing, water skiing, kayaking, sunfish
and larger size sailboats – enter one of the
many sail races/regattas!
Dinghy/Motorboat rentals for visiting
the outer island of Virgin Gorda.
Charter day sails or motor cruises to
Anegada, Jost Van Dyke, Peter, Cooper, Salt,
Norman & Guana Islands, some with stops on
the way for snorkeling and swimming. |

For the
more sedentary:
Artists or
Photographers (or hoping to become one)
Island vistas near or far are limitless in
their beauty.
Historic Visits to The Baths, Nail
Bay 19th century sugar plantation, The
Copper Mine, Gorda Peak National Park,
Little Fort National Park.
Shopping Expeditions ferries daily to
Tortola or thrice weekly to St. Thomas to
buy all your duty free perfume, jewelry and
for the designer stores.
Spa Day luxuriating to recover from
all that shopping!
Relaxing by the beach or pool and
reading that book you have been meaning to
read for ages. |
Restaurants:
There are plenty of restaurants on the
Island serving different fare. The most
formal are Little Dix and Biras Creek who
request a shirt with collar, long pants and
closed shoes for dinner. All the others are
informal.
Many of the
restaurants also provide music certain
nights ranging from Steel Pan, socca/rhythm/reggae
to the single Caribbean singer. |

| Travel |

There are two
main airports in the British Virgin Islands.
The larger Beef Island Airport on Tortola (EIS)
or the Virgin Gorda airport (VIJ) situated
on the south end of the Island and only
caters for the smaller 9 seater planes.
Most major
carriers have flights from the mainland USA
through to either San Juan, Puerto Rico or
St. Thomas US Virgin Islands. From these
points of entry connecting flights can be
obtained to Tortola or Virgin Gorda.
From
Europe points of entry are usually through
St. Maarten or Antigua with connecting
flights to the BVI.
Various charter flights are also available
from St. Maarten, Antigua, Puerto Rico and
the US Virgin Islands.
There is a
scheduled ferry which takes passengers from
Beef Island, Tortola to Spanish Town, Virgin
Gorda. |
